The place of business of the Werner Herzog Foundation is located at the address of the Film Archive Munich. The Film Archive Munich, as important partner, will host the Werner Herzog Film Award once a year. The Film Archive will also host various work shops or retrospectives of works by Werner Herzog throughout the year.
The Film Archive Munich is a very popular meeting point of cineastes. The daily alternating programme consists of broad retrospectives, thematic film series with German and international productions as well as selected premieres. All films are shown principally in their original versions (with German or English subtitles) and in their original format. Silent films are often accompanied by live music. Directors, actors or other filmmakers are regularly guests and discuss lively after the screenings with the audience. The Film Archive Munich is an established playhouse for festivals like DOK.fest, Filmfest München or the Internationale Festival der Filmhochschulen. Situated at the historic Marstallhaus at the Münchner Stadtmuseum, the archive offers a screening room seating 165 people, state-of-the-art picture- and sound techniques as well as a silver screen to show 3D films.
