Academy Awards 2021 : Oscar for best picture and best director to „Nomadland“ by Cloé Zhao

Award winner of the Werner Herzog Filmpreis 2017 for „The Rider“

At a socially distanced Oscar ceremony retooled for the pandemic, Chloé Zhao made history Sunday. The “Nomadland” filmmaker won best director and best picture, becoming just the second woman in the 93 year of the Academy Awards to win the award and the first woman of color.
